2. Driver Usage
---------------

2.1. Installing the Driver 
--------------------------

This section documents the normal way of installing and upgrading the driver. 
Please consult the operating system manuals for more installation 
instructions.

This section is divided into the following sections:

 * 2.1.1 Installing the driver for the first time
 * 2.1.2 Upgrading an existing driver

2.1.1 Installing the driver for the first time
----------------------------------------------

 1. Windows detects the newly installed device and displays the 'Found
    New Hardware' with Fibre Channel Controller message. The Found New
    Hardware wizard program starts installing a device driver for the
    newly installed device. 

 2. Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)' option
    and hit Next.

 3. Select 'Search for the best driver in these locations'
    a. Check 'Include this location in the search:' option.
    b. Enter the path to the driver directory and click next.
    c. Click Next and complete the Found New Hardware Wizard

 3. If Windows displays the following message: 

    System Settings Change. Windows has finished installing a new
    devices. 
    The software that supports your device requires that you restart
    your computer. You must restart your computer before the new
    settings will take effect. Do you want to restart your computer
    now? 

    Click Yes to restart the computer right away. 

 * NOTE: If Windows Server 2008 installs the driver for the newly added
   FCoE vHBA automatically upon startup without prompting you for a
   selection (ie, Windows Server 2008 installed an inbox driver), go
   to "Upgrading an existing Driver" section below. 

2.1.2 Upgrading an Existing Driver 
----------------------------------

To install an updated version of the driver, follow the procedure below.

 1. Start the Device Manager: 

     a. Right-Click on 'My Computer'
     b. Click on 'Manage'
     c. Select 'Device Manager'

 2. Select 'SCSI and RAID Host Bus Adapter' and expand it

 3. Right-click Cisco FCoE Adapter from the devices list. 

 4. Select the Upgrade option to start the Hardware Update Wizard. 

 5. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and
    click Next. 

 6. Select Don't search I will choose the driver to install and click
    Next. 

 7. Click the 'Have Disk...' option

 8. Enter the path to the driver directory and click OK

 9. When the Hardware Update Wizard/Select a Device Driver dialog box
    opens, click Next. 

 10. Click Finish on the Hardware Update Wizard/Completing the
     Hardware Update Wizard. 

2.2. Removing the Driver 
------------------------

 1. Start the Device Manager: 

     a. Right-Click on 'My Computer'
     b. Click on 'Manage'
     c. Select 'Device Manager'

 2. Select 'SCSI and RAID Host Bus Adapter' and expand it

 3. Right-click Cisco FCoE Adapter from the devices list. 

 4. Select the Uninstall option

 5. In the 'Confirm Device Removal' Dialog box click on OK


3. Driver Parameters
--------------------

Cisco FCoE Storport Miniport Driver does not support any host based 
user configuration parameters.

4. HBA API Support
------------------

Cisco FCoE Storport Miniport Driver supports the Storport WMI 
interfaces for providing HBA-API support.

5. Additional Notes 
-------------------

The driver installation file (FNICWL64.INF) modifies certain registry entries 
such as the disk timeout value of the system disk driver. Removing the driver 
does not restore those values.

6. Change Log
--------------

6.1 Fixed handling of Cluster IOCTLs

    * Fixed an issue where driver would incorrectly handle the Cluster
      IOCTLs. This would result in Cluster validation to fail with the
      error message "Port driver of the disk does not support clustering"
