The Magic Keyboard Options allows users to customize hotkeys
and other various features of Magic Keyboard.

Function Settings

This page allows you to define your own hotkeys.

Right-clicking the mouse on one of the buttons on the On-Screen KB, the corresponding function key will be displayed in the Function Key drop-down list.

The Caption is the text that pops up when the mouse is moved on top of a button on the On-Screen KB.

There are a number of ways to redefine a hotkey. Either choose from a selection of almost 20 predefined functions or create a shortcut or macro.

 
Redefining Hotkeys


1. Choose the hotkey you wish to use from the Function key drop-down list.

2. Choose a new function for that hotkey.

3. Change the Caption name if you need.

4. Input your web site: 

For News, people, search, shopping and stock functions, you can input your favorable web sites.

5. Press Apply to confirm a new function for that hotkey and continue to define other functions   for  other hotkeys.  Press OK to exit this Function Setting dialog and save all changes.

6. Press Load Default Setting to re-load default function settings for hotkeys.

 

Preset Functions

The Preset functions have been classed so that they can be found more quickly and easily.  Select a class and the new function from the list will be on the right. The classes include:

1. All: All preset functions.

2. System Control: Window system control functions

3. Internet Control: Internet control functions

 
Shortcut



Shortcut can be used to launch commonly used applications such as MS-Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Type in the path and name of the executable file in the box provided or use the Browse button to search for it. Press Apply to confirm it and press OK to exit this dialog.

 
Macro

Macro can be used to enter commonly used words, lines of text or symbols with a single press of a key.


To create a macro:

1. Select the Macro function from the Preset Functions list. This will switch you to the Macro page.


2. Enter the texts, words or symbols and press Save button to save it.

Example

1. Select function key-P1 as Macro function key.

2. Type " 11th Fl., 253 Min-Shen Road, Hsinchu, Taiwan 300" in this Macro dialog.

3. Press save button to save this texts.

4. Press Apply to confirm it and press OK to exit this Macro dialog.

5. Next Time, in MS-Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPad0 or Notepad, press P1 then it will appear  " 11th Fl., 253 Min-Shen Road, Hsinchu, Taiwan 300" automatically. 

 

The same can be done for other symbols that you wish to use.

 Display Settings

 

Startup Settings

Check this box if you wish to launch the On-Screen KB when Magic Keyboard start.

On Screen Status Display Settings

The On-Screen Status Display (OSD) informs you of what function is being performed when a hotkey or On-Screen KB button is pressed. This is only displayed when a hotkey has been pressed. It appears at the left bottom of the screen for 0.5 second default timeout.

1. Status Display Timeout: 

The default display timeout is 0.5 second. However, you can change it from 0.5 second to 5 seconds.

2.Test

The Test button can be used to view the OSD before changes are made.
