This README.TXT will guide you through the updating and installation 
procedure of Q-Scan driver for Windows 98/SE/ME/2000 and Windows XP.

For Windows 98/98SE/ME Users
----------------------------
1.Q-Scan driver Installation procedure:

  a.Getting Started

    This Driver floppy disk/CD-ROM is needed to complete the installation.

  b.Installation Procedure

    1.Plug the Scanner into the system's USB port.
    2.Start your PC normally. Upon power up, the system will indicate
      you that new hardware has been found. Press "Next" to continue.
    3.Insert this driver floppy disk/CD-ROM into disk drive.
    4.When the system asks for driver location, assign "D:\" as driver 
      location.(Assume the drive D: is your floppy disk/CD-ROM drive 
      contains this driver floppy disk/CD-ROM)


2.Q-Scan driver Updating procedure:
  
  a.Disable Q-Scan auto-detection program if it is installed and enabled,
    as follow:

    Right click on the small scanner icon at screen right-bottom corner.
    When auto-detection menu shows up, click the 'Uninstall' button.

  b.The latest Q-Scan driver files are needed for the following procedure.

  c.Make a note on the directory of your latest Q-Scan driver files.

  d.Invoke Q-Scan update wizard box as follow (use left click):

    1.<Start button> --> <Settings item> --> <Control Panel item> -->
      <System icon> --> <Device Manger tab> --> 
      <plus sign of Imaging Device icon> --> <Right click Portable Scanner icon> -->
      <Properties button> --> <Driver tab> --> <Update Driver... button>

    2.Now you are on the "Update Device Driver Wizard", follow the 
      procedure on screen!

    3.Make sure to specify the driver location to the directory of the 
      updated driver.



For Windows 2000/XP Users
----------------------
1.Q-Scan driver Installation procedure:
  
  NOTE: Please use 'administrator' account to login your Windows 2000 system
        or you may not have enough privileges to install hardware driver! 

  a.Getting Started

    This Driver floppy disk/CD-ROM is needed to complete the installation.

  b.Installation Procedure

    1.Plug the Scanner into the system's USB port.
    2.Start your PC normally. Upon power up, the system will indicate
      you that new hardware has been found. Press "Next" to continue.
    3.Insert this driver floppy disk/CD-ROM into the drive.
    4.When the system asks for driver location, assign "D:\" as driver 
      location. (Assume the drive D: is your floppy disk/CD-ROM drive 
      contains this driver floppy disk/CD-ROM)
    5.Ignore the message that "This driver is not certified by MicrosoftK" 
      and continue the installation procedure until completion.


2.Q-Scan driver Updating procedure:

  NOTE: Please use 'administrator' account to login your Windows 2000 system
        or you may not have enough privileges to install hardware driver! 

  a.Disable Q-Scan auto-detection program if it is installed and enabled,
    as follow:

    Right click on the small scanner icon at screen right-bottom corner.
    When auto-detection menu apears, click the 'Uninstall' button.

  b.The latest Q-Scan driver files are needed for the following procedure.

  c.Make a note on the directory of your latest Q-Scan driver files.
